Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer

Thunderbolt Solutions is seeking to hire a Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer to support the Federal Aviation Administration.

As a Thunderbolt Solutions team member, you will use your creativity and innovation to support RF spectrum engineering for the FAA.  Specific skills and responsibilities include:

  • Proficient in configuration and use of spectrum analyzer/microwave analyzer for use in Radar/RF system field-testing.
  • Knowledge and proficiency of Radar and RF receiver system theory and fundamentals.
  • Support FAA Spectrum Engineering Service Group (SESG) ensuring non-interference of RF emissions within the National Airspace System (NAS).
  • Utilize established RF emissions compliance procedures in accordance with National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) within the NAS.
  • Support GDIT program with UAS detection and mitigation technology/system research, testing, and evaluation efforts.
  • Documents results of all UAS detection and mitigation technology/system testing and evaluations.
  • Contributes to creation of Advisory Circulars or other guidance documents.

We want YOU on our team if you have:

  • Minimum of five (5) years demonstrated RFI and Radar experience  
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work without daily supervision/direction from senior project personnel.
  • Ability to produce technical written documentation to project manager personnel to support the generation of technical reports or documents
  • Excellent interpersonal skills as demonstrated by a record of influencing internal leadership and external customers.
  • AA/AS in Systems Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience
